Animal Control
The Coulee Region Humane Society developed our Animal Control program in 1975 in response to area needs. We are proud of the continuing commitment to animal welfare shown by our dedicated, professional staff. The Animal Control program has successfully expanded to the current level of service described below.

ANIMAL CONTROL SERVICE AREAS
1. Provides the following coverage to all areas within La Crosse County . Coverage to the City of La Crosse and the City of Onalaska has no time limitations. These two areas also have pickup available for sick/injured wildlife. All of the listed services are available 24 hours a day to these two municipalities.
Villages and Townships
Full coverage from 7:00 a.m. to7:00 p.m. , Monday through Sunday.
Includes the following services:
Pick up of stray dogs being held
Pick up of stray cats being held
Attempt capture of dogs running at large
Attempt capture of exotic animals running at large
Issue compliance orders for violations of county ordinances
Service box traps for feral cats
Pick up of D.O.A. dogs and cats
Issue citations
Respond to livestock complaints
Plus Emergency service coverage 24/7/365
Includes the following services:
Respond to vicious animal complaints/currently at large
Respond to wild animals posing a human health risk
Respond to emergent domestic animal cruelty, abuse or neglect complaints
Respond to domestic animals hit by cars
Pick up rabies specimens as needed
Respond to assist law enforcement with emergency animal related calls
Meet law enforcement at the shelter with strays
Pick up domestic animals ordered impounded by law enforcement
Pick up of exotic animals when ordered impounded by law enforcement
