Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are very important to the Coulee Region Humane Society. We are a private non-profit organization and because money is always an issue, staffing is tight. Volunteers help us provide the best possible care for the animals at all times. When our caregivers are busy helping out in the office in the afternoons, volunteers provide care for the animals; making sure they are clean and have fresh food and water and a little one on one time. It's very important for shelter animals to get as much human attention as possible and our volunteers provide that. Volunteers also help us keep up with mountains of laundry and tons of dirty dishes. None of our special events would be possible without the help of many volunteers. Even our Board of Directors is made up of volunteers dedicated to making our community a better place for people and animals. We couldn't do everything that we do without the help of our volunteers.

Volunteers must be at least 12 years of age to work with the animals.  Volunteers under the age of 16 years must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian when working with the animals.  Please inquire about other volunteer opportunities for those under age 13.

Because of the time involved in training, we ask that volunteers make a minimum three month commitment.  Current volunteers average 8 hours per month and shifts are offered daily 1:00-3:00 PM, 3:00-5:00PM or Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:00-7:00 PM.  A morning dog shift has been added from 9:00-11:00AM as well as a morning cat shift from 11:00AM-1:00PM.
