Crafts for Critters

Crafts for Critters is a hands-on service learning program for children ages 6-12 years old who are interested in learning about and helping animals! Children younger than 6 are also welcome to attend with parental supervision. Class sizes are limited to 15 children. Admission is free.

Crafts for Critters takes place once a month (on a Friday) from 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. at the Coulee Region Humane Society on the following days:

Stories With Shelter Cats

Stories with Shelter Cats allows children from kindergarten to 8th grade the opportunity to practice their reading skills and soothe cats by reading to them. Reading sessions are 15 minutes long and take place in the "Cat Get Acquainted Room" at the Coulee Region Humane Society. Children at any reading level can bring their own book to read to the cats or borrow one from our Humane Education Library.

Children can only sign up for one 15 minute session at a time. Sessions are 12 - 12:15 p.m., 12:15 - 12:30 p.m., 12:30 - 12:45 p.m. and 12:45 - 1 p.m. or 5 - 5:15 p.m., 5:15 - 5:30 p.m., 5:30 - 5:45 p.m., and 5:45 - 6 p.m.

  • July 5  12-1 p.m.
  • July 19  5-6 p.m.

Pawz Academy Mini Camps

The Coulee Region Humane Society offers an animal education program called Pawz Academy Minicamp for children ages 8-12 

The program features activities that teach children about shelter life, animal rescue and the responsibilities of pet ownership, in addition to helping homeless animals and wildlife in our community through exciting service-learning projects. 

Activities include: taking shelter dogs for walks and training them, socializing with adoptable cats, learning how to feed and care for baby wildlife animals, working together to keep our shelter clean,  making adoption posters and more!

Camp sessions are from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. each day. 
Cost per session is $25. Sign-ups will be limited to five children per session.

 


Story Time with the Coulee Region Humane Society

Join Story Times by the Coulee Region Humane Society, with stories and activities about a different wildlife baby animal each week! 
No sign-up required. Recommended for ages 3-7.
