Schedule a Shelter Tour at CRHS
The Coulee Region Humane Society welcomes group tours for all ages by advance request. Tours are designed to offer an engaging, behind-the-scenes look at our shelter and the important work we do to care for animals in our community. Each tour is led by a CRHS staff member who will guide your group through the shelter, share the history and mission of CRHS, and provide insight into animal welfare, shelter operations, and daily life at the shelter.
Standard shelter tours are limited to 12 participants and last approximately 30–45 minutes. A $25 donation is requested per group. Tours are available on Wednesdays between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., or on Saturdays and Sundays, based on staff availability.
Groups looking for a more in-depth, field-trip–style experience may choose to add a service project or extended educational component to their visit. These enhanced tours last approximately 1.5 hours and are available for a $50 donation per group. This option allows participants to engage more deeply with humane education through hands-on activities that directly support the animals and the shelter.
How to Book a Shelter Tour
To request a tour, please click the button below and complete the online form.
We ask that tours be scheduled at least four weeks in advance. Due to space limitations, groups must include a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 12 participants. Larger groups may be split into smaller subgroups and scheduled in staggered time blocks.
For groups with participants under 18, one adult chaperone is required for every eight students. If you'd like to include a service project or educational component in your tour, please indicate that in your request.
To ensure a safe and meaningful experience, we ask that all participants review our Shelter Tour Guidelines prior to your visit.
Shelter Tour Guidelines
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, we ask that all participants follow these shelter tour guidelines. We strongly recommend that educators review these expectations with their group—especially with younger students—prior to arriving at the shelter.
Behavior Expectations:
Keep hands and fingers outside of kennels at all times for your safety and the safety of our animals.
Treat all animals, staff, volunteers, and fellow visitors with respect.
Listen carefully to CRHS staff and volunteers.
Follow all instructions promptly and politely.
Use respectful language—screaming, yelling, or swearing is not allowed.
Only pet animals when invited to do so by a CRHS staff member. Hand sanitizer must be used immediately after petting.
Group Supervision:
For youth groups, one adult chaperone is required for every 8 students.
If Guidelines Are Not Followed:
Failure to follow the guidelines or maintain the appropriate chaperone-to-student ratio may result in:
Adjustments to the planned tour
Early conclusion or cancellation of the tour
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us provide a safe and educational experience for all. Thank you for supporting the animals at CRHS!
