  • Energy level/ daily exercise needs: Medium: (minimum 30-60 minutes) – daily walk + play time

  • Experience with and how well do they interact with children: We have 2 young kids and for the most part he has done well with them. He has nipped some at our kids when they have gotten too aggressive with trying to play with him. He sometimes struggles when he has anxiety triggers.

  • Experience with and how well do they interact with cats: Unknown.

  • Experience and how well do they interact with dogs: We have another dog as well and the 2 of them function perfectly together. However, he doesn't do the best with other people's dogs all the time when the other dogs are around our kids. He is also protective around his food bowl.

  • Things need to work on: He jumps up on people some but fortunately he's a smaller 20 pound dog. Doesn't listen when called if he isn't ready to go inside.

  • Favorite activities: Loves to go on walks and be outside.

  • Favorite treats and/or toys: We haven't found a treat that he doesn't like! As for toys, he typically likes all toys as well. We usually have some smaller stuffy toys that he loves.

  • Unique personality traits: I swear this dog is part cat. He likes to sit by windows and stare out, often on the top of the furniture. He does have some anxiety from a previous toxic home environment he was in but it has gotten significantly better. We actually rescued him from the Coulee Region Humane Society about 6 years. He has an occasional accident in our house but those aren't too common.

  • Ideal home: I believe Ash would be best without young kids. I think he'd do well with kids above about 6 years old that know when he growls or doesn't enjoy play time or what the children are doing. He's always done well with our other dog but I probably wouldn't recommend him to a home with a different dog because he has had some incidents with other dogs. Never anything major but minor fights here and there.
