Phase 1: The First 3 Days

  • Decompression:

Your new pet may feel overwhelmed, scared, or stressed by the new surroundings.

  • Behavior:

They might be very quiet, sleep a lot, hide, or retreat to a safe space. They may not want to eat or drink.

  • Action:

Give your pet a safe, quiet space (like a single room) with food, water, and a bed. Minimize visitors and new experiences to reduce stress.

Phase 2: The First 3 Weeks

  • Routine Building:

Your pet will start to adjust to your home's sounds, smells, and your family's daily schedule.

  • Behavior:

They'll begin to test boundaries, and you may see some behavioral issues like chewing or barking.

  • Action:

Establish a consistent routine for feeding, walks, and training to build trust and a sense of security.

Phase 3: The First 3 Months

  • Trust and Comfort:

The pet should begin to feel more comfortable and confident in their new home and with your family.

  • Behavior:

Their true personality will emerge, and they may show a stronger bond with you. Training should become easier.

  • Action:

Continue to provide consistent routines, positive reinforcement, and a stable, stress-free environment to foster this deepening relationship.
