Heart2Heart Pet Lifeline Grant

The Coulee Region Humane Society is happy to be partnered with Heart2Heart Pet Lifeline to further assist income-eligible La Crosse County residents with care for their pets. Funded by community donations Heart2Heart seeks to keep beloved pets in their homes and out of the shelter environment by assisting with the cost of care, for those who couldn’t otherwise afford it.

Grant Guidelines

  • Applicants must be La Crosse County residents

  • Applicants must be able to provide proof of income eligibility

  • Grant decisions are based on several factors including: medical necessity, financial need, available funding, and eligibility

  • Approved applicants will be asked to provide a photo of the pet(s) being assisted by Heart2Heart

  • Applicants only qualify for assistance once in a twelve month period

  • Awarded funds must be used within 30 days of the applicant receiving an approval and can only be used as it relates to the original request for assistance

Areas of Assistance

  • Boarding Services - the application must detail specific circumstances, boarding time, and estimated cost from boarding business. A copay of $25 is required. Heart2Heart will cover, if needed, required immunizations for boarding but will not exceed the maximum amount awarded of $500.

  • Dog Training - grants are up to $60, no copay require. Funds are released to the trainer once proof of training registration and remaining cost of training paid by the applicant are provided to CRHS.

  • Unsheltered Pet Owners - Heart2Heart can assist unsheltered applicants needing to get their pet(s) vaccinated and licensing in order to access permanent housing. Please request further information from Coulee Region Humane Society or Heart2Heart prior to submitting an application.   • Veterinary Care – Can assist with immediate or emergency medical needs. It does not assist with routine vet care like monthly preventatives, vaccinations, or dental cleanings. A copay of $25 is required and maximum awarded for veterinary services is $500.

  • Spay/Neuter - grants up to $100 which may be used at any area veterinary clinic all other costs are the applicant’s responsibility to pay the vet directly. No copay is required.
