Spay-Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP)
Spay-Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP) is offered by the Coulee Region Humane Society to low income La Crosse County residents to assist with spaying and neutering their cats and/or dogs. Since its inception in 2009, SNAP has helped get nearly 1,500 animals spayed and neutered in La Crosse County.
Please understand that SNAP has limited funds and a completed application does not guarantee assistance can be provided.
Program Guidelines
Applicants must be a resident of La Crosse County.
Must be a participant and provide proof of an income eligible program: Badgercare, Foodshare, WIC, or SeniorCare or provide proof of SSI/SSDI and the last two paystubs of an any additional income.
Must submit proof of income eligibility in order for the application to be considered complete. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
Applicants can choose to receive assistance for: spaying/neutering intact pets or getting already spayed/neutered pets vaccinated.
Payment for services and applicable license fees will be collected once the applicant is approved to go through the program.
Spay/Neuter Assistance
Required: Cat Neuter=$75.00; Cat Spay=$100; Dog Neuter=$150.00; Dog Spay=$200.00; Pet license (if applicable - varies by municipality)
Included in cost: Exam, Rabies vaccine, distemper vaccine, ear clean, and nail trim
Optional: Microchip ($25)
Vaccine Only Assistance
Required: Exam ($30); Rabies if not up-to-date ($15); Pet license (if applicable - varies by municipality)
Optional: Feline Distemper ($15); Canine Distemper ($25); Kennel Cough ($15); Microchip ($25)
We are unable to spay or neuter pets that are 10 years or older.
